National Environment Awareness Campaign 2001-2002


The National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC), is organised by the Ministry of Environment and Forests every year since 1986 with the objective of creating environmental awareness at the national level. This campaign is being continued this year also. The theme for NEAC – 2001-2002 is :

"SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT"

The Regional Resource Agencies may identify Regional/ local themes for conducting the campaign in their areas. Proposals are invited from registered Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs)/ Voluntary Organisations, Educational Institutions, State Government Departments, etc. working in the field of environment and sustainable development for conducting various activities such as Seminars/ Workshops, Camps/ Padyatras/ Rallies, Competitions, Festivals etc. for creating environmental awareness on the theme mentioned above amongst the masses. Proposals must also include an action-oriented component which would result in environmental improvement and benefit to the local community. The guidelines and proforma for submission of proposals can be obtained free of cost from the Regional Resource Agency designated for your State/UT mentioned in the list below, either in person or by post:

The last date for submitting proposals complete in all respects to the concerned Regional Resource Agency (RRA) is 20th August, 2001. Proposals received after the last date will not be entertained. It may be noted that the decision regarding approval/ rejection of proposals including the quantum of financial assistance to be provided will be taken by the Ministry and not by RRAs. Since the Ministry is providing financial assistnce to all the RRAs to meet the expenditure on printing of proforma and for coordinating the campaign, the applicants need not make any payment to the RRAs for either the proforma or for any other services.
