NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the26th April , 2004.

S.O. 598 ( E)- In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 12 and section 13 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986) read with rule 10 of the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, the Central Government hereby recognises the laboratories specified in column (2) of the Table below as environmental laboratories to carry out the functions entrusted to the environmental laboratories under the said Act and the rules made there under, and the persons specified in column (3) of the said Table to be the Government Analysts for the purposes of analysis of samples of air, water, soil or other substances sent for analysis by the Central Government or the officer empowered under section 11 of the said Act, and for that purpose makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Environment and Forests, number S.O.728(E) dated the 21^st July, 1987, namely:-

In the Table appended to the said notification -

(i) for serial number 110 and entries relating thereto, the following serial numbers and entries shall be substituted, namely:-

2. The recognition of laboratories mentioned at serial numbers 113 - 116 of the table shall be valid for a period of five years from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette. The recognition can be revoked earlier by the Central Government ".
